Update: It's not Johnston but Wanchai Road (see comment below).

Hi Klaus,
Today's Johsnton Road was the seafront or Praya in this photo. The orange coloured road running down the photo is Wanchai Road.
Up on the hill on the right is a temporary structure. Maybe the Naval Hospital was undergoing some major repair or extension?
