This looks more built-up than I'd expect for Ma Wan. I don't know that area very well, but the photos I've seen just show a jumble of small houses, not big buildings like these. I wonder if it's the spot where you caught the fery to Ma Wan?

Hello David,

I think you are right - my diary and photograph index isn't detailed enough!

Anyway, I have relabelled the relevant photographs.

Cliff

Thanks Cliff. It's likely somewhere along Castle Peak Road - maybe that's the brewery at Sham Tseng in the background?

Regards, David

Yes, thats the San Mig brewery and Garden Bakery site.

However, at this time I recall that the Ma Wan Island motorised sampan ferry operated from the Tsing Lung Tau pier further along the coast road

The ferry pier to Ma Wan is on the left on this image with a motor sampan present waiting for business.

Hi there,

I have a faint impression that the HYF had had regular ferry service between Ma Wan and somewhere back then.  It may have been a lay over of the Central -> Tung Chung -> Tai O route, which also stopped at Sha Lo Wan.   Have to lookup old ferry schedule somewhere to confirm.
