CHINESE WEDDING

Mr William Chan and Miss Marr Suet-ching

KOWLOON UNION CHURCH

A wedding of interest to the Chinese community was solemnised at the Kowloon Union Church yesterday at 1 p.m. when Mr. William Chan married Miss Marr Suet-ching. The Rev. Frank Short officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. Marr Koon-how, and Mrs. Marr Ng-song. Her father, who is in the restaurant business in New York, is the son of the former Magistrate of Tai Leung District, Toishan, Kwangtung.

She wore a lovely wedding gown in white satin, featuring a high collar and puff sleeves. The train was three and a half feet long. The gown was created by Messrs. W. L. Hanson & Co. She was attended by only one bridesmaid, Miss Marr May-kum. The bride carried a bouquet of white lilies, tulips and roses.

The bride’s mother wore a gorgeous Chinese ceremonial gown.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. Chan Yee-chung of Boston, Mass., U.S.A., who is also in the restaurant business there, and Mrs. Chan Chung-tai.

The bride was given away by her uncle, Mr. Marr Fook-on, and Mr. Chan Yue-tak undertook the duties of best man. Mrs. Frank Short was at the organ.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the Tai Koon Restaurant, after which the happy couple left for the honeymoon, which is being spent in Canton. Mrs. William Chan wore a Chinese gown of plaid material for her going-away dress.
