Interesting, the small house next to the pier on the left side.

Hi Daniel, this is the Central Star Ferry Pier (3rd location, Edinburgh Place) [1957-2006] and the Star Ferry Multi-storey Car Park [1957- ]. Queen's Pier is outside of the photo on the right.

The small house possibly has been used in connection with the reclamation west of the Star Ferry Pier.

Hi Klaus, thank you very much and my apologies for that silly mistake. Of course it is the old Star Ferry. Have a good day and best regards,  Daniel

The 'small house' was something to do with the Post Office, probably for loading mail onto and off the mail distribution launches.

The other rectangular building was either a Jockey Club betting facility or a Government publications bookshop

Have seen a 1971 photo that showed the Government Publication Centre was housed in the larger white squarish building adjoining the covered Star Ferry walkway.

Moddsey, surely you are thinking of this one

In short yes. Noticed the photo(s) were taken from the Mandarin Hotel.

In the series of photos from 1971, there is one clearly showing the use of the white square building:
