Actually I think this is looking the other way - from Lantau Peak down towards what is now Shek Pik reservoir.

Take a look at this shot from panoramio. The pointy hill on the right looks to be the same one above. Plus there is a headland that seems to still be there.

Thanks Phil, title updated. The reservor was built between 57 & 63, so the light-coloured area in the distance must be the construction site.
