Does anyone recognise this building?

Does anyone recognise this building?

It's the corner of a building somewhere along Queen's Road Central. It's cropped from a larger photo of the area taken in the 1930s. It's a distinctive pattern, so I wondered if anyone recognises it?

I'm still working on the full photo, and will post it up in the next couple of days.

[Update: you can see the full photo here.]

Hi there,

Those looked like add-on features to a pilar as they looked like patterns on stripes of unknown material.  Probably made from paper, wood, bamboo, fabrics or something else.  Waiting for the whole picture for other guesses.

Thanks & Best Regards,

T

Its a rather 'islamic' looking pattern, reminiscent of the carpets and rugs on sale in Arab Quarter of Singapore...

Is it a carpet wrapped around a column? The bottom third of the image seems to be spliced together and offset, so really not sure what we are looking at...
