I don’t think the photo was taken in the 1940s, and it is certainly not post-war. It shows the Village Road house where I was born, but the houses on Upper Fung Fai Terrace and in Shan Kwong Road and King Kwong Street are missing. I suggest the photo was taken not later than the early 1930s.

Another Happy Valley photo
Hi there
Attached is a photo from my grandmother's collection. She moved to Hong Kong around 1915 from Wei Hai Wei and stayed until 1932. She lived in Happy Valley, I think during the 20s, and mentions moving in to Village Terrace.
You will note roughly in the centre of the picture there is a stand that looks like a baseball stand, though maybe it's for dricket as it must be around the Craigengower grouds. I haven't noticed this stand in any of the other pictures posted here.
This is the best quality scan I have I'm afraid as it's from my father's collection.
