One of the blocks within the army's Victoria Barracks.

Now it's the flat piece of land where the pagoda and tai chi garden are in Hong Kong Park.

I presume 'A' Block was a pre 2nd WW designation? It was known as Alexander Block when we lived there for 2 months in early 1983.

Thanks Ian, I've added that to the name. The "A. Block" came from a 1920s map in the SMO mapping library (their ref: HG7).

The 1901 photo date is interesting. At the back of my mind I seem to recall that 'A'/Alexander Block was built in 1905?
