On this website the history of Hong Kong Electric Holdings is compiled. It says that Ap Lei Chau Power station started its operation in 1968 with one unit of 125 MW. Successively more units were added until finally 750 MW were installed. In the 1980s the company decided to build a new station on Lamma Island. The generators were transferred to Lamma, and Ap Lei Chau was closed in 1989.
Currently the private housing estate South Horizons stands on this ground, being completed between 1991 and 1995.

Ap Lie Chau Power Station
To be pedantic, in 1968 one new 60 MW (mega-watt) turbine-generator was built and commisioned, and in 1969 another. Only after that were the 125 MW turbine-generators built.
