HONG KONG AIRPORT
A new HK $16,000,000 (£1,000,000 Sterling; US $2,750,000) terminal was opened at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Airport in November. The terminal is the third and final phase of the airport development scheme that has cost the Colony more than HK $140,000,000 (£8,750,000 Sterling; US $23,500,000). The new terminal works on a "split level" principle. Arriving passengers are dealt with mainly on the ground floor. Baggage goes underground. Extensive measures have been taken to keep the building as quiet as possible and all doorways facing the aircraft parking apron have been fitted with sound-trap lobbies.

THIS PICTURE SHOWS the control tower in Hong Kong's new airport terminal.    Here again the latest equipment is in use.

Accoring to a veteran air traffic controller of Kai Tak airport, the one standing with the binoculars was RAF Liaison Officer F/Lt Terence MILES. The Air Movement Controller sitting in the middle with the mic was Mr Vic Clarke. The assistant on the right with the phone is unknown.
