I've set the DoB based on 1314's comment below. It replaces the 1912 date given in John Black's list, which gives Pile's occupation in 1941 as "police".

Travalled from Hong Kong to Southampton on the Highland Monarch arriving in Southampton 9 November 1945. Age 36 police officer. Proposed address in UK 5 Loch View Avenue, Gourock.

Died in 1986 in mid Devon. Date of birth on death record shows 6 January 1909
