Joseph Harris was Sgt 60 in the Hong Kong Police and at the time of the Japanese invasion was attached to Special Branch.

Born 16.5.1904,enlisted in HKP 21.12.1931 as A 60, Promoted Sergent 11.12.1940,Interned Stanley where Wrigt - Nooth records him as one of the gardening team,,regraded to Sub Inspector in 1948,Awarded Colonial Police Long Service Medal 21.12.1949,awarded Colonial Police Medal (Meritorious) vide Queens Birthday Honours June 1952,London Gazette Supplement 5652 Page 3042 as Chief Inspector,for " extraordinary sevices in eastern Division for zeal,diligence and high personal contribution." Retired as Chief Inspector in 1954.
