Rat bin recollections
After seeing this photo my brother and I were exchanging reminiscences about these rat bins which we walked past every day as little school boys in the 1960s. We both remember one day walking back from school (Diocesan Preparatory School in Kowlong Tong) daring each other to open one and seeing what was inside. My recollection is of seeing a damp grey tail sticking out of a lake of dirty disinfectant. My brother rather more colourfully writes "I have a clear vision of dead rat body parts. Whitish with yellowy brown streaks in the disinfectant ?"
