This is the righthand of two photos placed side by side in the 1928-29 album of WR Fell, that carry the legend "Departure of Capt. Glencross". Glencross gave up his command of HMS Titania and the 4th Submarine Flotilla in February 1929. I expect the exact date is given somewhere. These two photos should join the enquiry placed by his grandson, Jon Glencross at https://gwulo.com/node/46493

Hong Kong waterfront February 1929?
I didn't originally upload this pair of photos with the rest of the HMS Titania batch, as I wasn't sure if they related to Hong Kong. Does this photo, taken from a tipping boat, show the Hong Kong waterfront?
Re: Photo
Yes, the photo shows the Hong Kong waterfront and Central Fire Station. See here
Any mention in the press?
Thanks so much for verifying this, moddsey. I had thought that there would be some mention of the event and the exact date in the Hong Kong press. My search efforts were, however as usual, fruitless. Although my search item "glencross" came up in the mmis drop down menu, there were apparently zero results. I wonder if I am still doing something wrong.
Re: Press Mentions
Yes, no 'hits' for the surname in HKPL. A search for individual RN officers may not always show up in the papers. Other search words may have to be used e.g. appointments, name of vessel etc..
Have seen RN appointments show up in the press from time to time. That said, the normal rotation of RN officers of the China Station was a common occurrence and may not have merited inclusion. For avid searchers, a time-consuming manual trawl may be required to pin down information.
Captain Glencross departure date
Glad to know that the zero result wasn't because of my incompetence!
