Mention is made here in the Hong Kong Telegraph dated 27 June 1941 of his death. He is buried in the Hong Kong Cemetery.
Edwin Charles Tregillus was a native of Plymouth and came to the Far East in 1875. In 1880, he joined the Chinese Maritime Customs until his retirement in 1921. During his 40 years with the C.M.C., he served in many stations along the China coast. He leaves behind a wife, Anne Tregillus, a daughter and son-in-law ( Mr and Mrs C. R .Jonsson), a daughter-in-law, Mrs Mary Tregillus and four grandchildren, Frances Jonsson, Peggy and Helen Bough and Henry Charles Bough.
