It looks as if construction
It looks as if construction started in 1956/57, and the building was finished 1958. Had only a limited lifetime, was replaced in 1982 already.
Dates
On p.9 of SCMP for 9 Aug 1955, it notes that the new Fung House would be 'completed next year'.
I don't see any article describing when it was actually finished, but notices of businesses moving into the new building start appearing in 1957. e.g. on p.16 of SCMP for 29 Mar 1957 is the announcement that the Business Registration Office will move into Fung House from April 1.
So it looks to have been finished in late 1956 / early 1957.
