Re: The Roxy
Hi there,
I remember the Roxy used to be the block between Sugar Street and Yee Wo Street. That was in the neighbourfood of the Victoria Park. The Roxy was gone way ahead of the New York, however.
Best Regards,

New York / Roxy
Hi T, I wrote 'Roxy above when I meant to write 'New York'. I'd just finished creating a separate Place for The Roxy, which caused the muddle.
Thanks for the catch - I've corrected it now.

Added estimated demolition
Added estimated demolition date from Thomas:
The demolition date of 1983 is a guess, about two years before the MTR Island Line was partially inaugurated.

The above Wikipedia page has this: 1955年1月23日開幕,因要興建港鐵銅鑼灣站西面大堂而停業拆卸,後重建為銅鑼灣廣場第一期,其後遷往銅鑼灣廣場二期繼續營業,亦於2006年結業,現為酒樓. I read it saying [after it was demolished, the site was developed as first generation Causeway Bay Plaza. (no mention of the theatre whether it became a tenant in the new building) Thereafter, it moved to Causeway Bay Plaza second generation to resume operation, and closed doors in 2006 - now restaurant.]
The current plaza was built during 1989-1992, so its move-in date could be 1989. Causeway Bay Plaza: https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/銅鑼灣廣場
