re: Alfred Mann
Any idea if there's a connection between Alfred and David Mann (http://gwulo.com/node/16269), who was interned at Stanley during WW2.
Regards, David
Alfred Mann
Hi David
Could be David, I have been trying to trace the Alfred Mann genealogy for many years and have not been very successful. Sorry I cannot be more helpful

A. Mann 1886
There's an A. Mann listed in the Blue Book for 1886, appointed 17th April 1886 as Assistant Foreman in the Fire Brigade on an annual salary of $72. He doesn't appear in the books for 1884/5 or 1887/8.
Do you know if he stayed on in Hong Kong?
There's also a gravestone that may or may not be related:

A.Mann 1886
I believe Alfred Mann was a police officer from 1885 - 1887. My grandmothers Marriage certicate states that 1909 he was a prison warder in Singapore.
With Reference to the gravestone, Isabella G Burness was the wife of Aeneas Mann who was as you state a Police inspector.
Many thanks for trying to help.
