HK Macau Ferries
The ships in the picture are two out of three built in Japan for Shun Tak Shipping Company’s HK to Macau service in the early 1970s – NAM SHAN, TAI SHAN and LO SHAN. They were replaced by two high speed vessels built by Vosper Thornycroft UK - CHEUNG KONG (1984) & JU KONG (1985). Two unique vessels which also ended up in the Philippines in 1997.
Details:
All three vessels built by Nigata Eng. Co. Ltd. of Japan.
NAM SHAN: built 1972 - sold 1982 to A.P. Madrigal Steamship Co. Inc. Philippines renamed MADRIGAL SURIGAO - scrapped 04/93.
