Born 9.8.1902    Enlisted UK into HK Police on 9.10.1925     Arrived HK 25.11.1925  and attested as Police Constable A 184   Appointed Lance Sergeant 4.5.1926   Appointed Revenue Officer 1.12.1930     Commended by H.E. vide Annual Report 1930.

Thanks for the extra detail. Please do you know if becoming a Revenue Officer meant he left the Police, or was it just a department within the police force?

I believe he would haveundergone an inter-departmental transfer. and would appear on the establishment of the then Preventive Service ( later Customs and Excise).

Thanks. I looked at the 1930 Blue Book, and you're right: he appears on page J105 with an appointment date of 1st Dec 1930. Interesting to see that's also the date given for "Date of first appointment", so they don't count his earlier appointment to the Police Force.

Correction to my earlier - Subject was in fact commended by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in 1930, not by H.E - no citation I'm afraid - despite this recognition of his work he nevertheless transferred away from the Force. He was not the last to follow this path, the Force throughout it's existence provided a gateway to Hong Kong, and for many a route to better things !
