The first theatre to operate at the site was Bonds Theatre, on December 17, 1965.  It had a seating capacity of 1,312.   During its early years, the starting time for movies were 12:30 pm, 2:30 pm, 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm, fairly standard for most theatres when I was living in HK that time.  Some theatres like Good World Theatre also showed a different movie (mostly Western) at 5:30 pm they called happy hours or workers leisure program.  Readers may also remember there was a staff at the entrance to the hall handing out single sheet a synopsis of the movie you were about to watch, very brief naturally, and you might be able to read it under dim light.  The projector always shine first before the curtains open and I guess they don't want you to stare at the blank screen first.

Bonds Theatre was closed some time in February 1995.  After its closure, the theatre site was resuilt as the Bonds Fun City with restaurants, shops and computer game parlours and two mini cinemas with seating capacity of 388 and 304.  It was renamed UA-Bonds Cinema and opened to business on April 25, 1996.  It closed on September 29, 2002.
