Addressing: Taikoo Dockyard, Quarry Bay Hong Kong. Taikoo Dockyard was closed in 1972 to make way for the development of Taikoo Shing a private housing development. The location marker on this map is approximate.
Taikoo Theatre was a private theatre serving the dock workers and families at reduced price but also opened to the public. Available information collected by Cinema Treasures shows that it was operating in the 1950s., but its opening date and closing date are unknown.
From reading Wikepedia about Taikoo Dockyard, I believe the theatre was built after WWII, and its operation started in early 1950s. For the purpose of this page, the operation period is estimated to be from 1950 to 1972.
