I am trying to find information about my grandfather Alexander Kinnear. This is what I know:

He was born in Dundee in 1898

His full name was Alexander Kinnear

He was known as Sandy

He joined the Hong Kong Police Force in c. 1927

He was interred at Stanley Camp

After the war he returned to Dundee and remained there until his death in 1954.

If anyone has any information about him personally, or about the type of police work he may have been involved in, where he may have lived, the food he may have eaten (I have no idea if the police had their own accommodation and would have eaten British fare) I would love to know more. I believe that in the 1930s he was an inspector in CID.

Here are some resources that may have more information about your grandfather: https://gwulo.com/node/9376

For more about the policeman's life in Hong Kong, you could take a look at Patricia's book.

There's a "Sgt. Kinnear" in this photo: https://gwulo.com/atom/28684

If you zoom in in (https://gwulo.com/atom/28684/zoom), can you recognise if it is your grandfather?
