Sitting alone in the vegetation and well visible from the road. I couldnt find any old buildings at the location online. Maybe somebody can shed some light?

An incinerator?
My first impression is that it could be an incinerator. There are a few others dotted around HK. For example, this one at Pak Mong. There's another very similar one at Tai Long village on the Chi Ma Wan peninsula.

Very interesting, now I do remember having seen the one at Tai Long with my own eyes but that was ages ago! Thank you for the insight.
