Playground.  That bit of concrete in the center of the photo, next to where the buses are parked, was the children's playground where I learned to ride a bike.  It was a ghastly, depressing space, not a tree in sight.

It has been reprovisioned as part of the Peak Galleria, up several flights of stairs - but it has an unobstructed view of Pok Fu Lam.

When the Peak Hotel burned down, and after the war, the land must have been returned to the Government for community use.

Was that building in the center of the photo, with the red roof, a restaurant? I remember that when I went up there in 1972, my friend and I had tea in an open-air restaurant-it was covered, like a porch, really. I must not have looked around up there much-I can't remember that big terminal building at all.

edit: I should have looked at the tags before I wrote-That is the Peak Cafe, and that is exactly where I spent a nice afternoon, out of the scorching heat, sipping tea with my friend. Then we stepped out somewhere nearby to take photos of her with HK in the background.

The four three-storey blocks visible just above & behind the terminus/carpark.
