Sai Wan War Cemetery stone of remembrance.

In May 2012, my daughter and I visited the grave of my mother's brother, Frederick Stanley Lowing, who died in Taiwan on 17 March 1944 whilst a prisoner of the Japanese. This was the first time a member of the family had been able to visit his final resting place and pay their respects, over 68 years after he lost his life.

In a strange twist of fate, he was buried in Hong Kong, where his father was born in 1885.

"Re-buried at Sai Wan Military Cemetery"  27 October 1947

The four casulaties of the RAF crash on Lantau Island 26 March 1946 are listed together; Cumming, Warburton, Hall and Carr.

This document tells that the ‘original grave’ was in the Colonial Cemetery in Happy Valley, but actually that was the second grave of the Lantau Crash casualties as they were first buried on the mountain.
