The numbers of spectators mentioned even for Hong Kong, especially prewar, appears to be over-enthusiastic reporting.

Interesting is the amount of China related participation in the event

Model aeroplane flying is still popular and carried at a site in the northern New Territories

Taxying past the Terminal building.These aircraft were crammed full of cargo,baggage at the time of the Vietnam war.The worst offenders were the crew....an active blackmarket in Laos!

A full side have view of the Midway in 1983. Unfortunately I do not seem to have taken a picture that would have replicated the 1975 image

If the person who took the 1975 image of the carrier had extended his camera's field of view slightly he would have seen the vessel's name on the stern, as in this Midway view
