Now believed to be Freddie Neale, his wife and daughter with Pixie Smith. Previously thought to be George Gordon Stopani-Thomson, his wife and daughter, Shirley.

Having landed at Silvermine Bay, the early stages of the walk were through rice paddy fields to reach the bottom of the trail up the mountain.. It's difficult to imagine this form of transport in post-colonial times.

The plane was suspended from a long cable and 'flew' down the valley. Designed by Raymond Smith.

This particular plane did not survive the war but was replaced by another afterwards.
