I took this photo in the morning from our room at the (then) Furama Intercontinental. It was the first time in Hong Kong during daylighthours - so my main interest was the Peak and (I must admid) the buildings in the foreground were of little interest to me.

I know better now, so we see the Hilton Hotel, Murray House, Chater Garden, Murray Road Multi-Storey Car Park, and ,left of the Hilton, Murray Building. In between 1967 and 1980 the Hilton hotel lost its "Hongkong"

Philip Cracknell has found a mention in a wartime diary that places it opposite the Ritz in North Point, so it should be somewhere near here.

He also notes that during the Japanese invasion, "The hotel received several direct hits and was burnt down".

This hotel was one of the places used to hold internees before they were moved to Stanley Camp in Jan 1942.
