Mok Cheong Street, To Kwa Wan

I have a collection of photos taken during my childhood back in late 50s/early 60s outside a factory. I was told that was Waton's (Bottling Factory?) at Mok Cheong Street, To Kwa Wan near Sung Wong Toi & Kai Tak Airport.

Does anyone have relevant information or photos to share?

Much appreciated.

My only memory with Kai Tak

Hi guys. I am new to gwulo.com. Nice to meet you all and learn the history about Hong Kong from all of you.

I took the pictures below last year from Kai Tak Airport Photo Exhibition at Mikiki, San Po Kong. Before the Airport’s closure, I was still very little living in Sham Shui Po. Even though I had never been to the Airport, I was amazed by aeroplanes and engine noise flying over my head. The rest of my impression about Kai Tak is from TV dramas and movies.

Do you have special memories or nostalgia with Kai Tak?

Kowloon City (especially the currently Lung Shing constituence) has quite a interesting history. I learnt that the area was previously scattered with several villages and later there is a development of the Kowloon Street (a local market); and then a pier that links to it. The Kai Dak reclamation also took several stages to be completed.

RAF's arrival in Hong Kong-1945

An interesting article starting on page 32 onwards to page 45 of this PDF covering the RAF’s arrival in Hong Kong in 1945

Most of the story has been told in various formats in previously published documents.

One map/diagram shows Ping Shan and Ka Tak far way from where they actually are..

Approaching Kai Tak – View from the cockpit in July 1979

The following images were taken by Tony Hawes in (most likely) July 1979. They are taken from the cockpit. He wrote me that he wasn’t stationed in Hong Kong, but visited this city twice – in 1963 and 1979. The images are in the order he remembers.

This one is already at the Kowloon Peninsula showing Mei Foo Sun Chuen housing estate and the Lai Chi Kok municipal incinerator. Flight direction is south-east.
