1953 Des Voeux Rd Central

The tram to the Race Course is passing the On Lok Yuen Building on DVRC. Interesting to see the tram's concertina doors and the long wooden pole (just above wheel level) used for manually moving the tram's electrical tram pole to a different wire when changing directions at crossover sections. Further up the road on the right is the Jam Fair (Department Store) Building and Kung Sheung Daily News at 39-41 and 43 Des Voeux Road Central respectively.

1952 Kai Tak Aerodrome Pillboxes

A screenshot from a 1952 map at  http://www.hkmaps.hk/mapviewer.html . Shows WWII shoreline pillboxes at the eastern (RAF) and western (civilian) ends of the old Kai Tak Aerodrome. I knew there were inland pillboxes on Kwun Tong Road near the entrance to RAF Kai Tak but this is the first time I have seen the location of the two shoreline pillboxes. The pillboxes may not have survived the war.

The message on the advert makes one wonder what actually was "1950s English style steak cooking"!
