Here's one last pic of this vanished place. I took this on July 11 or 12,1972

Here's the last of the '70s Wanchai bar photos I have-the "San Francisco" (Topless!) I have one Polaroid photo of me with one of the girls in this place that I just wince at when I look at it (someone would walk around and take your photo with whatever girl you were with-for a price,of course). I look about 12, long hair and all. I will not be posting that pic here.

Here's another I took on July 12,1972. Ms. Au showed me around this place, and posed for a number of photos in front of many of the statues.

I took this on a tour of the New Territories on July 11,1972. Is that Jimmy Page on that ship there?

I'm rather proud of this photo-I think I got the composition just right. The young lady is Betsy Au, who showed me around this place. She makes a very nice picture, and I was saddened to read here that Tiger Balm Gardens is gone now. I seem to recall we left from here, and then went to the peak.

This is yet another of the photos I took in Wanchai in July 1972. If I am right, I'm standing on the corner of Lockhart and Luard, looking down Lockhart. The harbor would have been to my right. I seem to recall a place that was just a window opening up to the street, selling Fish and Chips in a paper cone, and I think it was down Lockhart, about where that Tattoo sign is,or maybe a bit farther down that side of the street.

Here is another of the photos I took in Wanchai in July 1972. Being 19, this was where I spent almost all the time I was in HK. If I have my directions correct, I'm standing in front of the 'Mini Club' at Lockhart and Luard, and looking down Lockhart towards Fenwick. If I am right, I would be standing in front of the present (2009) "Club Venus"-if I did my 'walking tour' of Google Streetview right.

At any rate, in 1972, I went in every bar in that photo.

Here is another of the photos I took in July,1972. If I am correctly remembering, I'm standing on the corner of Lockhart and Luard, looking down Lockhart towards Fenwick. There is the Ocean Bar on the right. In a 1967 photo here, the Ocean Bar,and the United Nightclub appear to be on the same side of the street-but in 1972, the United was next door to the Mini Club. I spent a lot of time in that Mini Club, and would sometimes find myself spending the night in the "Lucky Apartment" (I still have the card) at 87 Lockhart Road, "upstair United Bar".

I spent a week in Hong Kong in July of 1972. Being only 19, this is the area I gravitated to right away-I probably went into every place in the photos. I've spent the whole evening "walking" around this place via Google, and it's pretty much unrecognizable, but I see the same exact "Tattoo" sign at about 77 Lockhart Road, except that it is now 'Rickeys',instead of 'Pinky Yan'. If I am oriented correctly,in this photo I think I am standing at the corner of Lockhart and Luard, looking down Lockhart, with the Harbor on my right.
