Took this photo 1962/3-ish.

Suspect the ship in the right background is the P&O/ S.S. Canton which ended it's days around that time being scrapped in Junk Bay.

The Electra L-188 had a poor safety record until modified in 1960.

But they still crashed .... as this one did on the 16th February 1967 with the loss of 22 lives.

On 12 June 1966 (so called "612" incident) 382.8 mm (+15 inches) of rainfall was recorded in one day, being the highest record at that time.  Between 6:00 - 7:00 am, an hourly highest record of 108.2 mm rainfall was also recorded.   The heavy downpour made Hong Kong suffer one of the worst disastrous floods.
