Tratman was educated at Clifton College and later University College, Oxford University. He joined the Hong Kong colonial service in 1904 and took up a lot of post like the Superintendent of Imports and Exports and District Officer (He was called Cheuk Tai Yan or Ta Chuek Chai (literally "hitting the little bird")). He contributed to the solving of the Canton-Hong Kong Strike in 1925. His final post is Principal Assistant Colonial Secretary and he received a C.M.G.

Wood was the son of an nonconformist minister, and his brothers were Herbert George Wood (theologian and academic) and Robert Stanford Wood (educator). He was educated at City of London School and later Jesus College, Cambridge. After graduated from university, he came to Hong Kong as a government cadet in 1899. He had hold a number of posts below:

Any information  on Claude and his life would be of interest. He was Colonial Secretary in Hong Kong. I think when he left HK he necame HK's man in Brussels

Gompertz was educated at Bedford School, and later Exeter College, University of Oxford.

He was the cadet of the Federation of Malaya. He was transferred to Hong Kong in 1897 and took up a number of post include the land officer in the New Territories and Puisne Judge from 1909 to 1925.

He left Hong Kong in 1925 and became the Chief Justice of the federation of Malaya until 1929.

Thomson was educated in the University of Edinburgh. After graduated from university, he came to Hong Kong as a cadet.

During his tenure, he took up some important posts like the defence secretary (1950) and held up the post of deputy colonial secretary until his early death in 1952. He was buried in Hong Kong Cemetery.

One of his interesting trivia is, there was a youth hostel named after him in Yau Ma Tei.

Stewart-Lockhart came from a noble, wealthy family. His father, Miles Lockhart, was a banker.

He was taught by a private tutor, then went to King William's College, later George Watson School and Edinburgh University, where he got a prize for Greek Studies.

He came to Hong Kong as a cadet in 1879. He took up a post of the registrar general in 1883.

Charles Messer was educated at Merchant Taylors’ school and later, Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge. He was appointed as a cadet in 1897. He was the captain superintendent of the police force from 1913 to 1918 and was promoted to the financial secretary from 1918 until 1931.
