In 1973, the site of Alfred Holt’s Blue Funnel Line Holt’s Wharf & Godowns site was being transformed into the New World Hotel and New World Apartments.

As in the way in Hong Kong, the New World complex has since been demolished and a new high-rise edifice is taking its place.

The platform for what will be another hotel is in progress at bottom left. A hotel still exists there (Intercontinental?) The names keep changing.

Robert or John Mitchell Dunlop, Hong Kong 1870s

Text on Flickr:

Possibly Robert Dunlop 1848 -1909 or John Mitchell Dunlop 1858-1939, sons of James Dunlop (see photo 1). Both Robert and John Mitchell worked as a ship's engineers in the Merchant Navy during the 1870s and 1880s, as did their youngest brother William, and like them, travelled extensively, as did Andrew (see photo 50) as a master mariner.

1930s Holts Wharf at TST

Test from Flickr in 2013:

This was how it looked of the current location of the Regent hotel in the old days. Holts Godown was built in circa 1910 and sold the site to New World Development in the eary 70s.
