In 1973, the site of Alfred Holt’s Blue Funnel Line Holt’s Wharf & Godowns site was being transformed into the New World Hotel and New World Apartments.
As in the way in Hong Kong, the New World complex has since been demolished and a new high-rise edifice is taking its place.
The platform for what will be another hotel is in progress at bottom left. A hotel still exists there (Intercontinental?) The names keep changing. <Read more ...>
Possibly Robert Dunlop 1848 -1909 or John Mitchell Dunlop 1858-1939, sons of James Dunlop (see photo 1). Both Robert and John Mitchell worked as a ship's engineers in the Merchant Navy during the 1870s and 1880s, as did their youngest brother William, and like them, travelled extensively, as did Andrew (see photo 50) as a master mariner. <Read more ...>
