Hong Kong Harbour and Kowloon City from the roof of Cable and Wireless Office, Electra House, Hong Kong - August 1952

The frigate in the foreground is HMNZS Hawea (F422). Originally HMS Loch Eck (K422), was sold to the Royal New Zealand Navy in 1948. Was active in the Korean War. After decommission in 1965 she was towed to Hong Kong for final ship-breaking.

Hong Kong. Victoria Harbour. 1938

This photo looks similar to c.1937 View over Wanchai and the harbour towards Kowloon, but it's not identical. Likely taken at the same time as it shows many ships in the harbour, see also enlarged details here.

On the very left bottom side the old Naval Yard with the tower is visible, right hand the pier in front of Wellington Battery.

Although predictable, it can clearly be seen that the old Naval Yard was directly at the waterfront-

Stonecutter's Island in the distance.

Update: the date was set to about 1897 (see StephenD's comment below).

Shows a few roads only in Kowloon, the longest being Robinson (later Nathan) Road.

There are other maps from the same time, but all are slightly different.

It looks if the fast pursuit crafts (FPC) are still in use (see this photo from 1995)

This another view of the Victoria Harbour, I dated it to 1894 because Carmichael & Co. Lo. has already been built.

Interesting buildings:

1. This shows the 60 -70 Des Voeux Road build close to finish(or repair?) and a monster-long building in front of it! Anyone got idea what the long building do??
