Jumbo shot from almost the same location (on a sampan again). Looks pretty much the same as in 1980.

We made a sampan tour through Aberdeen harbor and passed Jumbo Floating Restaurant.

A few days later we returned to Jumbo for dinner. We were pretty short in HK$ (and had no credit card). So we calculated our meal and drinks - it was just enough. We were only afraid that we had to pay for the rice, then we wouldn't have enough for the bus. Fortunately, rice was included.

View from the peak on Aberdeen and Lamma Island

Aberdeen Harbour is seen with Ap Lei Chau power station, Lamma island is in the back.

Originally, I thought it was taken from the Peak Tower. Now I believe I took it from a bus near 84, Peak Road on the way to Deepp Water Bay and Aberdeen.

An early photo of the Tai Pak in Aberdeen, taken by Roy Arguello in 1953-55. This is how the floating restaurant appeared in the film "A Many-Splendored Thing", which was filmed during this time frame.

Aberdeen from The Peak

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
1940

This photo was taken of Aberdeen Harbour from the premises of Francis Leslie Ball at 364 The Peak (now 28 Severn Road). The photo was probably taken before they left for Australia in 1940. I can definitely see the two Aberdeen Reservoirs located on the south side of Hong Kong. I am not sure what the long building is in the distance beyond the lower reservoir.

Forward Dressing Station - on the slope above Tin Wan Estate [????- ]

Location of marker is approximate.  This building is clearly marked in the GeoInfo Map.  Most likely in current 1:10000 & 1:5000 maps too.

Walked by this Forward Dressing Station on 12th February.  It would seem it might have been used by squatters after the war.  At that time and before the housing developments, the slopes are full of huts and terraces.  The terraces are much over grown but still visible if you know where to look.
