Quite narrow bridge. Demolished as it possibly was not fit for vehicle passage.

The Report on the New Territory for the year 1900 (page 20) refers:

The masonry of the abutments and piers of the Tai Wai bridge, 3 spans of 30 feet clear, was completed in the year.

The Public Works Report for 1901 refers:

Tai-Po Road, Bridge at Tai-Wai.

Comment on Flickr:

Tai Po Road is one of the earliest major roads in the New Territories, built in 1902. In the early 20th century and until the Lion Rock Tunnel, the first road tunnel in Hong Kong, was built in 1967, Tai Po Road was the main road connecting Tai Wai and the New Territories to Kowloon. Before the construction of the Fanling Highway in the 1980s, the road connected Fanling and Sheung Shui.
