When digitizing my old slides (1994) from Singapore I found on one the old Bank of China Building. It looks pretty much like the one in Hong Kong. No wonder, it's by the same architects (Palmer and Turner), and it was built in 1954.

Picture showing the basement substructure of the BOC building was under construction, it was a substantial excavation and piling foundation operation in that era. The work was carried out by contractor George Wimpey from Britain.
30 years later, the same contractor also built the present HSBC HQ in joint venture with John Lok & Partners. <Read more ...>
