Arthur Rylands Lowe became Hong Kong's first full-time professional accountant in June 1902. He also set up an office in Shanghai in 1906 with J.E. Bingham as partner. When F.N. Dorothy Walch, remembered by my Warren cousins by her maiden name, Dorothy Dransfield, appears with them in several of our family photographs from the late 1920s and early 1930s in Hong Kong before her marriage to Eric Walch of Lowe, Bingham & Matthews. Unfortunately the two families lost touch with each other. If any descendants of the Walches come across this post, I should like to get in touch with them. It would be interesting to know if they have any similar photos or memories of my family.
ER Walch was an accountant with Lowe, Bingham & Matthews from about 1936-1941. Address in Jurors List for 1936 was The Peak Hotel. His 1937-1940 address is given as 20 Broadwood Road, usually known as The Towers. He is given as an auditor in Hong Kong in the 1941 Government Gazette.
