Looking at the 1909 map of this area, from right to left are:
The camera angle makes them look very tightly packed, but really they were spread out along the road.
The building a little way below Barker Road is Martinhoe.

Barker Road 1980
The area of Barker Road has changed a lot from 1924 compared to 1980 (magnified from my photo id/20960). Farthest away is Cragside Mansion (white), then Altadena House (brown), and an (for me) unknown two-storey building with a flag. This should be 31, Barker Road where the Richmond Houses are today.
