Japanese tunnels #1, Wilson Trail Stage 5 [????- ]

There are a couple of tunnel entrances here, one of which is very obvious. I assume they link up, but didn't fancy going in without a torch and some seriously good mosquito repellant!

Thanks for this - I look forward to seeing the photos.

There are some more not too far from here, along Maclehose stage 5. If you walk further up Shatin Pass Road you come to a fork and a small car park where there are often people flying radio-controlled gliders. From there the Maclehose leaves the road and heads north up over Tate's Ridge. Not far from the road I remember seeing a collapsed tunnel, and a noticeboard describing Japanese tunnels. I'll make a better note of the location next time I'm out hiking that way.

We went for a walk along stages 5 & 6 of Wilson Trail yesterday. The tunnels were new to me, and I forgot there was already a place created for them here until I checked just now.

All the entrances have been fenced over, but it looks like a simple layout - basically a tunnel a little way into the hillside, then following the contour and running parallel to the trail.

Walking in from the Wong Tai Sin end, we saw this entrance first:

A little further along the path is the next entrance, though quite caved in now:

A bit further along we see the tunnel again:

I guess it was an entrance originally, but it may just be a place where the tunnel collapsed. Here's the view to the left and right:

The path curves round a little and we came to the last entrances, with a curious 'fur-lined' appearance:

Dear David,

I wish you very well.

Yesterday was a fine day . A friend and I strolled from MTR Wong Tai Sin and ended at Shui Chuen O. Attached link reflected images on things of interest. You may take my liberty to update your webpage accordingly.
