AMC Festival Walk Cinema was the first cinema to operate in the shopping mall called Festival Walk.  The mall was constructed during the period 1994-1998.  An unique feature of the mall is that the tunnels for the current MTR run through the site.

The cinema opened on December 17, 1998 with eleven screens and 1,874 seats.  Four screens were closed in October 2006 reducing the capacity to 1,193 seats.  In 2015, the operator of the cinema decided to vacate and move to Yuen Long due to "very astonishing" rent increase.  Its last day of operation was January 4, 2016.  The successor was the 8-screen 1,196-seat MCL Festival Grand Cinema which opened on June 8, 2016, and it continues to operate today.
