Just found this old newspaper photo in rear of my album of the then record  torrential rain fall during May 1957 over most of Hong Kong.

Its amazing that the rain storm water could be so deep at this point as the seawall was nearby berthing the Walla-Wallas. You would expect it to quickly run off into the sea. The Mandarin Hotel is in the background and the adjacent pedestrian underpass was flooded to its roof. IDJ
