KCRC Terminus TST, or, what's left of it [1983- ]

Date Place completed:
1983-12-01

These pillars together with the clock tower are what's left of the original KCRC Terminus in TST. The Pillars were relocated to this location after TSTE was developed up to a certain phase.

#190 Nathan Road, Tsimshatsui [1937- ]

Date Place completed:
c.1937-01-01 (Month, Day are approximate)

I really don't know if this fits.  But I am posting it anyway.  Despite the pillars, it is definitely NOT of the Guangzhou style ones.

It's quite a big one and quite well preserved too, but I am unable to confirm it's completion date.  The upper floors had been one of the locally well known photo studios 'I Do' for a while.  However the floors had been vacant now.

Japanese wartime tunnels, former Marine Police HQ [????- ]

These are described on the government website describing local monuments:

During the Japanese Occupation Period [when the compound was used as a base for the Japanese Navy], extensive underground tunnels were constructed beneath the lawn but after World War II, in view of public safety, these tunnels were blocked and the lawn was re-turfed.

The tunnels were destroyed during the recent development works to turn the compound into a hotel & shopping mall.

To complement Hedda Morrison's photo.

A look at Nathan Rd northbound at road level showing the Rose and Star Hotels. Photo probably taken in the late 40s or early 50s. Note the banyan tree in front of the Star Hotel [MrB: the tree is also visible in the Hedda Morrison photo] across the road from the Chungking Market which unfortunately is not visible.
