Kaiser Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge [c.1958-c.1977]

Date Place completed:
c.1958-01-01 (Year, Month, Day are approximate)
Date Place demolished:
c.1977-01-01 (Year, Month, Day are approximate)

Was located at the Junction of Carnarvon and Granville Roads. First appearance on a 1958 photo. The building was demolished before the Taurus Building opened in 1978.

"Kaiser" is the German name for "Emperor", so it was possibly a German restaurant.

Update 2020-02-05: according to the advert from 1958 it's a restaurant with "Famous European, American, French & Russian Cuisine".

Granville Road - Firewood (1950)

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
1950

This photo reminds me of a short Folk Lyrics I learned back home -

Pouring rain, flooding streets, older brother carrying firewood up the street to sell, auntie landing into flowering shoes.

I think they are firewood.  No rain in this photo, but the memory is the same.  The last phrase implicitly means that she is getting out of bed, hence   降地 (= getting out of bed).

Post Card of Tsim Sha Tsui near Carnarvon Road

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):

Earlier came across this on a website and saved this photo of Carnarvon Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, which I believe was taken around the 1930s.  An interesting angle of the district, and surprised with how quiet the district was when the photo was taken.  Have not done work to figure out which road is which yet.
