Labelled no. 7, this is the second of the Ming Yuen Studio proofs in the family collection that shows my cousin Diana Warren as the 1933 May Queen at Quarry Bay School. The legend on the back explains that she is handing flowers to Lady Clementi, the Governor's wife. Unfortunately Lady Clementi is out of the picture.
This photo from the Warren family album is a Ming Yuen Studio stamped proof and must be in the public domain. It is one of two taken at the Quarry Bay School in 1933. My cousin Diana Warren, aged 5, is sitting in the May Queen's throne.
This photo of Veronica Walker's birthday party was preserved by my cousin, Diana Warren, who is the taller of the two girls in the back row and who lived at 19 Broadwood Road. Veronica, known as Ronnie by my cousin, is in the centre. My cousin has written that she lived at 2 Broadwood Road, but it must be 4 Broadwood Road according to Siobhan Bland Daiko's post of that title. I would guess the date to be 1937. <Read more ...>

The photo shows Southorn Playground before WWII. There is an open-air cinema, and it runs two shows in the evenings only.
