Haunted house on (3?) Cornwall St

Wondering about an abandoned house on Cornwall Street. I haven't been able to dig up anything about this house, why it's abandoned in such an affluent area - could someone who is more knowledgeable fill me in? Thanks.

This lot is deliminated by Inverness, Dumbarton, and Grampian Roads. It was likely sold in 1930 when in this area middle-class European houses were built. Many of these were pairs of detached houses with mirrored plan, probably built in the early 1930s, when Art Deco style was at its peak.

On this lot, Houses 45 - 47 Grampian Road (Sun Hok Building), today Bethel Bible Seminary, was built.

This photograph, taken about  in about 1921, shows the farming land which was  to be developed by the Kowloon Tong  Company , providing some 250 houses for familes at "affordable rentals and amid proper surroundings". In 1924 it was reported that the project had been delayed  by worker unrest but was still proceeding slowly with the first  twenty units perhaps ready by mid-year. Cutting across the picture from left to right is the Kowloon Canton Ralway embankment, seen curving as it approaches the Beacon Hill tunnel.
