The pillars of the Kowloon Canton Railway Terminus in the Urban Council Centenary Garden

Kowloon Canton Railway Terminus was opened in 1916 while the clock tower was completed in 1915. Owing to lacking of space for expansion, the terminus was moved to Hung Hom in 1974. The station building was demolished in 1978 except the clock tower which was conserved under the effort of the Heritage Society. Six pillars of the station building were moved to the Urban Council Centenary Garden in Tsim Sha Tsui East.

KCR Tsim Sha Tsui Station - Cultural Revolution - 1967

During the height of the Cultural Revolution in1967 , when disturbances had spread to Hong Kong , KCR railway workers had to contend with through freight trains arriving from the Mainland at Tsim Sha Tsui with their wagons festooned with anti-British slogans. This also included some disturbing additions hanging  down the wagon sides. The slogan daubed on the end of the wagon reads 打 倒英帝 (" Da Dao Yingdi" - equivalent to "Down with British Imperialism" )

We have never seen a locomotive using the transfer track betewn Kowloon wharf and the KCR terminus, which is what I presume this this is.

The small car in the backgound is very similar to one that appears in a number of 1930s RAF Kai Tak pictures

A familiar view. The bus appears to be a British 'Tilling-Stevens' with centre access for passengers. The curved flash on the body is unusual. The yard opposite has a tower structure that look like it is a fire brigade hose drying tower. The fire brigade building is bottom right and still there today as a 'Shanghai Tang' shop complete with some fire brigade implents on display showing its heritage.

The locomotive Turntable  referred to earlier by 'T' is seen clearly here next to the HKYF Co pier. While the turntable has gone I believe the long building next to it is still there today used for housing small KCR freight locomotives. Remarkable in this picture is the extent of the freight transfer yards no longer in use at this location
