South-west of Park Hotel (1980)

I took this picture from a higher floor (top?) of the old Park Hotel located at the corner of Chatham and Cameron Road. The direction is more or less south-west. On the left hand side the Royal Garden Hotel is being build, it opened in 1981. In the center back is the Tsim Sha Tsui Centre and Empire Centre. Possibly right hand side is Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel under construction, it also opened 1981.

Tsim Sha Tsui Centre [1981- ]

I took this picture from a higher floor (top?) of the old Park Hotel located at the corner of Chatham and Cameron Road. The direction is more or less south. Most likely the building in the background left is the Tsim Sha Tsui Centre (reading on the building: ..G CENTRE COMPLEX). I guess the old buildings in front and on right hand side haven been demolished (shortly) after the photo was taken. In the center background is a building, possibly the former Regent, and now Intercontinental Hotel?

I originally thought this was at the Zoological Garden, but this is the birds sanctuary at Ocean Park. Its number 17 on the lowland map.

On our visit to Hong Kong in August 1980 we made a sampan ride through Aberbeen harbour. We saw many boats with people who seemed to live there. I'm not sure, but there is a slight memory that refugees lived there whowere not allow to go ashore.
